Every Believer’s Role as The Bride of Christ

May 12, 2019 every believer’s role as The Bride Of Christ – Chad Brown

I believe I will get a loud amen from most men when I say that while we may envy moms for the incredible role they play in our families and community...we are also thankful that we don't have to endure the many challenges and responsibilities of being a mom!

To the almost perfect moms and to the moms struggling just to get through each day, this Sunday morning we come together to prayers and thanks for all you do for our children and community.

Every day we serve and worship a risen Savior... may our hearts be filled with praise for the Christ who is alive in our church!

Sermon Series: Choices – Biblical examples of faithful decision making

Chad Brown will preach in my stead this Sunday as I am with family in Woodbridge for several birthday celebrations (including my own). I'll then be in Richmond Sunday evening through Wednesday for the Virginia Conference Board of Ordained Ministry meeting - please keep us in your prayers. Please keep Chad in your prayers as he preaches on "God's Choice / Our Choice."

Our Sunday morning sermons in January and February are focusing on CHOICES. Like Joseph, Moses, Jonathan, and other people of faith in the Bible, our United Methodist denomination has some critical choices to make in the near future. Over 800 delegates from around the world will meet in St. Louis at a General Conference of the UMC in St. Louis from February 23-26 to attempt to make decisions around the issues of human sexuality and biblical authority that divide our church.

As we pray for this conference and God's will to be done, it seems wise to turn to the Bible and study the men and women who, in their own time, made the critical choice to follow God.

Please pray and ask for God to guide us all in the coming days.

    Peace in Christ, Pastor Bob

This Sunday Lydia and I will be in Connecticut with our family for a week of summer vacation. We have two of our dedicated Lay Servants - Rodney Bussard (8:30) and Chad Brown (11:00) - preaching in my stead. We are blessed at VUMC to have so many gifted lay ministers.

January 1, 2017 Fresh Start Psalm 76:5-7 - Chad Brown New Year's Day sermon entitled "A Resolution to Bless and Amaze the World."

New Year's Day falls exactly seven days after Christmas Day - when hope was born in Bethlehem! In Revelation 21:5, our Lord Jesus Christ proclaims that He will make all things new. Is it possible that January 1, coming so soon after the birth of hope for people everywhere, can represent a new beginning for all of us and for our Church? Can we commit again to be a people of courageous faith, of sacrificial love, of never-failing hope in the One who was born to set us free from the law of sin and death?
